  I wanted a shortcut to Taskbar Notifications but didn't find a way built into QAP. I found this article https://www.askvg.com/create-direct-shor...sta-and-7/ but when I used explorer shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9} in the QAP shortcut, it just opened Explorer.   [url=https://www.askvg.com/create-direct-shortcut-for-notification-area-icons-in-windows-vista-and-7/][/url]
  
  So I created a shortcut on my Desktop and put in explorer shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9} as the Target which worked. I then right-clicked on the shortcut and Imported the shortcut into QAP and QAP set it up the way it needed to be.

  For me
  explorer.exe shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9}
  works simply by adding it as Application favorite without any additional tricks.

  While testing this I found a problem with Icon display in QAP.
  I have assigned the icon from taskbarcpl.dll on a lnk entry in a live folder of QAP.
  In explorer the icon is displayed ok but QAP always displays a generic document icon for it.
  Refresh live folders doesn't help

  @Dale: Interesting. I added an item to the wish list about this (https://forum.quickaccesspopup.com/showt...hp?tid=575). As mentioned, there is no need to create a shortcut.
  
  @Horst: I set the icon using this file C:\Windows\System32\taskbarcpl.dll. (icon resource "C:\Windows\System32\taskbarcpl.dll,1") without issue. I don't understand your point about Live Folder?

  @Jean: I don't make a QAP Favorite for the notification.
  I have a sub-dir with several links (.lnk) to Control panel functions.
  For this sub-dir there is a QAP Live folder favorite
  When I look into this folder with TC or Explorer the assigned icon from taskbarcpl.dll is shown
  but using the QAP favorite live folder entry it shows an generic document icon for this entry.
  
  EDIT
  With further testing I found the reason.
  I used the simple name taskbarcpl.dll to find the icon for the lnk file.
  If I use the full path QAP is displaying the icon.

  @Horst: Thanks for the follow-up. QAP could search for the full path (in %PATH% variable and some registry keys) when no path is provided. But this could slow down Live Folder refresh. Not sure if this is a good thing?

  @Jean: I don't think its necessary but may be worth some entry under tips and tricks.

  One of the reasons for my original post is to help others who don't know to use

  I mistakenly posted this in the Beta forum. I meant to put in the regular one to help the most people. Can it be moved?
