Hello,
I updated version QAP-V11_6_2_2 Portable to version QAP-V12_0 Portable as described in “UPDATE_INSTRUCTIONS.txt”.
Before I could restart, Windows froze. After the necessary restart of the operating system, I opened the drive and the folder where the portable version is located.
When I looked in the folder, I noticed that “QuickAccessPopup.ini” was no longer there. There was also no “QuickAccessPopup-backup-” file with the current date.
There was no “_QAP_temp_” directory under “C:\Users\MyUser\AppData\Local\Temp”.
I tried to recover any deleted files using qphotorec_win. Unfortunately, no .ini file from QAP was found.
So my settings and menus, which I had built up over two years, are gone. The existing backup .ini files are still from my old computer.
I can't use them because neither the programs nor the paths are available.
Is there any way to somehow restore the last “QuickAccessPopup.ini” from before the problem occurred?
Unfortunately, the backups are from the folder on my old computer.
For the future, it might be useful if the portable version made a backup of the entire folder in another location, e.g., in the user directory.

QAP itself never erase this QuickAccessPopup.ini file. The file is created the first time you launch QAP if it does not exist in the QAP Settings folder. The portable ZIP file does not include a QuickAccessPopup.ini file so it cannot overwrite your settings. I assume you already checked for this but maybe there is confusion about the current QAP Settings folder? Did you search for QuickAccessPopup.ini in other locations?

The QAP temp folder is located under the folder set in "Options, General" and is deleted when QAP is quitting. And this folder does not include the QuickAccessPopup.ini file. It only contains images, language files, etc. recreated each time you launch QAP. -

First of all, I must apologize for my misleading description in my first post.

No — the culprit was the operating system from Redmond. It has always been and still is banana software (ripens at the customer's end).
I just wanted to describe what happened and what I observed.
Before my first post, I searched intensively for the “QuickAccessPopup.ini” file.
- On my computer
- In the restored files from qphotorec_win (as described in my first post)
- In the backups I made of the portable version folder. Unfortunately, however, these all originate from my old computer.
- On my NAS, where I also synchronize some of my computer data.
- On my external USB drives, where I also back up some of my computer data.
Unfortunately, this search was unsuccessful. A current “QuickAccessPopup.ini” from before the necessary restart due to Windows freezing cannot be found.
I think I'll have to start from scratch, whether I like it or not. And use QAP with a “QuickAccessPopup.ini” created during the first start. And rebuild my menu.
As I can see in the “QuickAccessPopup-backup-” .ini files, the QAP settings are located under [Global].
If that is correct, can I then copy and paste this section from one of the backup .ini files?
That way, at least I won't have to do this part again. Of course, only if QAP is not running.
The actual menu then begins in the [Favorites-Backup] section. Is that right?

Yes. Most of these settings are saved after using the "Options" window.

The favorites are normally saved under a section named "[Favorites]". If is it not found, the section under "[Favorites-backup]" contains the favorites list from your previous session.

Hello,
Is there a way to hide optical drives that do not contain any media under Drives?
I would like the optical drives to only be displayed when a CD, DVD, or Blu-ray disc is inserted, and not displayed when they are empty.
In other words, when no media is inserted.
