  Can I make QAP open an already existing window/instance of a favorite file? Instead of launching it again with the associated program.
  
  Some of my apps (like mempad) allow multiple instances to have many documents open at the same time. Result: they are scattered all over the place, each in its own separate window. Instead of flipping through open windows — they all look the same in Alt-Tab or Win-Tab thumbnails — I want to open them via their fixed entry from inside QAP. If the document is open. If not, I want QAP to open it with the associated app.
  
  Is this doable?

  No. This option exists for Application favorites; "If this application is already running. activate...". But not for document.

  Thank you. Guess, I will have to route it through some sort of bat-file or ahk-call. Will browse their forum to find a solution.

  Maybe opening the mempad documents using an Application favorite with the document path in the Parameters field could allow to use the "If this application is already running. activate..." to better control mempad instances. But this is a big "maybe".

  Great idea. Definitely worth a try.
  Currently, I am struggling with another problem. Every so often, QAP comes up with its Welcome-screen and all my settings are lost. I just could not figure it out, read the FAQs and Help sections ...
  
  Just now I discovered that it must be my file manager (XYplorer) that does not pass the working directory correctly, at least that's what I think it is. Settings files are scattered throughout my file system, every time I restart QAP, it creates those files in whatever folder I happen to be at the call-up.
  
  XYplorer works fine with other apps, though. Same command line. Anything unique to QAP I am not aware of?

  Not that I could tell. Of course, installing QAP with the Setup file would avoid this issue. But in portable mode, you have to make sure QAP starts in is setting folder.

  Portable is paramount for me. I use QAP as a launchpad for apps and files on my USB-stick.
  
  1) Unpack QAP into D:\QAP
  Add some favorites, customize a few things, then shut it down.
  
  2) Open a Windows command prompt, call QAP from D:\SomeFolder:
  D:\SomeFolder>D:\QAP\QuickAccessPopup-64-bit.exe
  
  It will start with default settings all over again.
  
  How do I avoid this? What must my command line look like, to make QAP use the settings in its own app-folder and not create new ones all over the place?

  Yes, in fact I did read it.
  I am NOT talking about integrating my file manager with QAP, this works nicely. Got my QAPconnect set up, relative paths and all, everything fine, no complaints.
  
  What I cannot figure out: How to start up a portable QAP on my stick, WITHOUT having to first navigate to its app folder and run it from there. Again: It is not running yet, I want to start it up.
  
  For most apps it's as simple as calling their exe:
  Application.exe
  
  Others expect their working directory as a parameter:
  Application.exe "workingdir"
  
  What should my commandline look like for QAP? To make it use the settings I have already customized in its own app-folder, and not start over from scratch?

  The quotes had tripped me up.
