Sorry if this has been asked before but I did not find it during a search.
Note: This is NOT a situation where network drive is off-line as is suggested on the support site as a possible cause.
I have upgraded from QAP 9.5 on win7 to v11.6.3.1 on Windows 11, and everything works great with one exception.
Whenever I try to open a entry for a drive on a UNC path I am getting an error stating:
"Failed attempt to launch program or document"

Thinking this was possibly due to a problem with my imported configuration I even tried to create a new entry by selecting "add active folder or webpage" but the results are the same. Again the network drive is definitely online since I can open Explorer and paste the path which opens with no problems also there is no issue of authentication so I am not sure why the message also mentions "The username or password is incorrect".
Also, it does not matter what UNC path I attempt to open. Any valid path is crashing in the same way, and it does not matter whether or not this is an administrative share or a normal share EG: \\server\c$ or \\server\sharename
Is anybody else seeing this problem or know of a workaround?

Hi bobo777,
Welcome to the QAP forum. The issue has never been reported before. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a system where I could test UNC paths.
Someone using UNC paths could provide some help on this?

After some experimentation with virtual machines I have come to the conclusion that the problem is isolated to this particular install of Windows 11.
This does not appear to be happening with the same exact copy of QAP portable when ran from a Windows 7, 10, 11 virtual machine.
While I can't explain this I have found a usable workaround...
For whatever reason, if at start up I run the application:
start "" "C:\Windows\System32\UserAccountControlSettings.exe"
And then close the UAC window, QAP works perfectly. I am not changing any UAC settings, only opening and closing the user access control window. I am a rollback Rx user so I am able to revert to a snapshot to test this and in every case this seems to be holding true.
I only have one icon in my Windows startup group and that is a batch file which points to a persistent drive not protected by rollback. I have added the above start command to my batch file to open the UAC dialog at start up and then wrote a little autoIT application to then kill the UAC window once I am logged in. EG: start "" "D:\UAC_StartupDialogBoxCloser.exe"
After multiple days of testing this seems to be fixing my issue however I am at a loss to understand why.
I also attempted things such as mapping drive letters to my network shares and those were failing as well both during the creation of the QAP entry as well as the execution of it. During creation QAP told me that the drive letter R: for example was not valid.
I have attached a screenshot of some of the errors I received during my testing.
I also experimented with launching a batch file from QAP that simply ran Explorer to the drive share or drive letter and in all instances this failed by running Explorer but not opening the correct path and instead opening to my documents folder. This was the case regardless of whether or not I had elevation enabled in QAP when launching the batch file. However once I applied my workaround everything works as expected so again I am totally confused as to why this is happening. At no point during my experimentation was I ever prompted by UAC while invoking anything via QAP. My UAC settings are the default with nothing bypassed. So at this time I can only assume that the root cause of this issue has something to do with elevation.

Thank you for this detailed follow-up. I could not help understanding why your are having these issues on this system. Maybe QAP users more knowledgeable about networking will be. However, I can provide some explanations about the error messages you receive.
But first, this tip helps identify if the error is specific to QAP or not. Enter the path to your folder on the NAS drive in the Windows Run dialog box (Win + R). Usually, this dialog box reacts the same way (gives the same error messages) QAP does when opening a folder or launching a program. In fact, QAP is calling the AutoHotkey command "Run" which is the same as this Windows "Run" dialog box.
Now, about the error messages. It is strange to see different error messages for the same issue. The 3 error messages on the top show that the QAP/AutoHotkey runtime is interrupted at different moment in its execution. The text of these error messages is not specific to QAP but written by the AutoHotkey runtime following an error encountered when giving a command to Windows. It seems that QAP/AutoHotkey is in some way destabilized by a condition specific to this system. And, as you certainly noticed, the issue seems related to the network credentials ("user name or password is incorrect").
Finally, the error messages on the right and bottom of you screen captures are created by QAP when a path cannot be found using the AutoHotkey function FileExist().
