When you elect to view invisible characters you can no longer edit the contents of the clipboard until you you deselect the Invisible charactetrs checkbox

No, this is by design. It is not possible with the Edit control I use in QCE to edit while viewing the invisible characters.

This could become available in a future release if a library allow to use more sophisticated editor (like SciTE). But this is not available at this time.
