  Hi,
  
  First of all, I love your QAP app. It's so powerful.
  
  I use Snippets a lot and often many of them vary by only a few words.
  
  Eg. Here's a snippet that I want to create:
  
  The movie was played by XXXXX.
  
  Where XXXXX is one of the following actors:
  - Leonardo DiCaprio
  - Arnold Schwarzenegger
  - David Hasselhoff
  - Tom Cruise
  - Chris Hemsworth
  
  At the moment I have two choices:
  1) Create 5 different snippets
  2) Create the snippet as follows:
  The movie was played by {Input:prompt}
  
  But I have to manually type in the Authors name. This is unpractical.
  
  What would really be great is to be asked in a seperate popup which name should be inserted into the snippet.
  
  So I was thinking it could be defined in the snippet in the similar way as {Input:prompt}, but instead something like:
  
  {List:Leonardo DiCaprio||Arnold Schwarzenegger||David Hasselhoff||Tom Cruise||Chris Hemsworth}
  
  
  What are your thoughts?

  Yes it's a bit similar to the other request. I guess the only difference would be that the other request doesn't require an additional GUI and just populates the snippet with the random text from the list. Where in my list an additional GUI would come up so you can choose the text that you want to insert into the Snippet. 
  
  But the backend logic would be similar.

  I was thinking about this a bit more and initially I was thinking of a list of single line options and having that ability would be great.
  
  Later I thought that an ability to have a list of multi-line text options would be more generic.
  
  A use for this would be for example in coding.
  
  You could have one snippet which would include a block of text from a predefined list.
  
  I think this would be much harder to develop and I'm not sure if it's even possible, but wanted to just mention this idea for something to consider when you are thinking of the solution.
  
  Ever way, I'm sure it will be great  .

  What if the placeholder was a list build from favorites in a submenu?
  
  For example, having a submenu named "Main > Snippets > MyMenu" having 5 snippets named "Snippet1", "Snippet2", ..., you could have another Snippet named "SnippetMenu" (or whatever) with code like this:
  
  

  Code:

  Text preceding the placeholder: {Menu:Main > Snippets > MyMenu}. Text after the placeholder.

  
  When launching "SnippetMenu", QAP would type the content of the snippet and when at the "{Menu:...}" placeholder, it would stop to show the submenu "Main > Snippets > MyMenu" containing the five snippets favorites (this could even include other types of favorites if one finds good use for that). After the user selected an item, QAP would execute the selected favorite (type the text of the snippet, for example) and would resume with the remaining of "SnippetMenu".
  
  Not sure if the name of the placeholder would be exactly "{Menu:...}"... It could also be "{ShowMenu:...}".

  After more thinking about my previous post, using a submenu is a nice concept but not as easy to implement as I wished. Without going in to the details, with this approach the snippet selected in the "Main > Snippets > MyMenu" would be executed (typed) before any content from "SnippetMenu".
  
  It will be easier to implement and probably quicker to use to include the list of menu items inside the snippet itself. It will be possible to have multi-line text. For example:
  
  

  Code:

  Text before:{Choose:[Option 1 menu]Text of option 1|[Option 2 menu]Multi line
content of
option 2|Option 3 menu and text}

  
  Not sure what delimiters would be the best but in the example above:
  

  • "{Choose" is the beginning of the placeholder
    
  • "[Option 1 menu]" is the menu label of the first item
    
  • "Text of option 1" is the content of the first item 
    
  • "|" is the items delimiter
    
  • Etc. for options 2 and 3.
    
  • "}" is the end of the placeholder
    

  Note that Option 2 content stands on three lines. And for Option 3, because there is no menu label, the text of the content would be used for the menu label.

  - new {Menu:...} placeholder to be replaced with the selected item in a popup menu
    - {Menu:text1|text2|text3} show a menu with the specified items
    - {Menu:...|label~long or multiline text|...} if text is long or includes line breaks, a label can be specified before a tilde

  First of all. Thanks for such a quick turn around for this. It's amazing.
  
  I've tested it and was very impressed. I actually added 2 multi select options in the single Snippet and it worked like a charm.
  
  Here's the test Snippet that I used:
  ===============
  Traveling Details:
  From: {Menu:Home|Work|Piccadilly Station}
  To: {Menu:Far Far away|Some liong address
  In some City
  In some town|text6}
  ===============
  
  I would like to propose 2 enhancements which I think would be useful.
  
  1) Provide a Title to the Menu select list.
  
  So you might be able to specify the Title (eg seen in Bold or underlined in the menu), by something like this:
  
  {Menu[[Title of Menu]]:text1|text2|text3}
  
  So in the above snippet you would have two Menus lists like:
  
  {Menu[[From Address]]:text1|text2|text3}
  {Menu[[Destination Address]]:text1|text2|text3}
  
  
  2) Allow a summary text to represent the actual list item.
  
  
  This would be especially useful when using long list options. So instead of seeing a long multi line string in the menu, you would see a sort summary description.
  
  So it might look like this:
  {Menu:Home|Work|[[Piccadilly Station]]Piccadilly Circus Station
  Some street
  London}
  
  
  So it would show up as follows:
  
  Home
  Work
  Piccadilly Station
  
  
  Not sure if it would be useful to differentiate a list item "label" from a "text", but maybe if it's a label than it might be in BOLD for example.
  
  Anyway, great work and hopefully the above suggestions make sense.

  You missed it in the release notes:
  
  - {Menu:...|label~long or multiline text|...} if text is long or includes line breaks, a label can be specified before a tilde
  
  > 1) Provide a Title to the Menu select list.
  
  With the tools I use, QAP can display only one item bold in a menu and it is when it is set as default menu item. What I can do is make the first item bold if it has a label and no text. Like this:
  
  My preferred artist is {Menu:Title~|Leonardo DiCaprio|David Hasselhoff|Tom Cruise|Chris Hemsworth|The Governator~Arnold
  Schwarzenegger}.
  
  
  
  Any other items with a label and not text could be used as subtitles (without being bold) like this for "-- Title2 --":
  
  My preferred artist is {Menu:Title~|Leonardo DiCaprio|-- Title2 --~|David Hasselhoff|Tom Cruise|Chris Hemsworth|The Governator~Arnold
  Schwarzenegger}.
  
  
  
  In both cases, selecting a title or subtitle would close the menu and do nothing.

  Thanks for pointing out the label. Like you say, totally missed it. 
  
  I like your proposal for the title. Simple to define and use. If only one thing can be bold, then the title I think is the logical choice and it would definitely make it clear what the list of items in the menu represent.
  
  I also like the concept of the subtitle as well, especially if the list is long. It would be nice to use it as a separator.
  
  It's a pity that pressing on the Title or subtitle will close the menu, but if it's not possible, nothing can be done about it.
  
  In either case, this menu list is a great addition to QAP

  I'm starting to use the Snippet list selector more and more and I'm finding that it works really well , but it can be a bit hard to read if there is a lot of text in the selections or the snippet itself.
  
  At the moment it's possible to have this:
  My preferred artist is {Menu:Title~|Leonardo DiCaprio|David Hasselhoff|Tom Cruise|Chris Hemsworth|The Governator~Arnold
  
  Schwarzenegger}.
  
  To help in making it easier to format the snippet, would it be possible to ignore any "\n" ONLY in the summary text part of the selection.
  
  So I could format the snippet more like this:
  
  My preferred artist is {Menu:
  Title~|
  Leo~Leonardo DiCaprio|
  The Hoff~David Hasselhoff|
  Top Gun~Tom Cruise|
  CH~Chris Hemsworth|
  The Governator~Arnold
  
  Schwarzenegger}.
  
  Currently the \n gets displayed as part of the summary name when the list selector is displayed.
  
  It might not be so obvious in the above example, but when you have a number of options in a large snippet, it can look like a block of text that can be a bit hard to read. I have found myself coping the text into a notepad, cleaning it up and pasting it back into the snippet.
  
  Not sure how hard something like this would be to implement, but if it's a easy fix, then others might find it beneficial too.
