I can't figure out why this keeps happening. I don't think that it's a "QAP problem" but I don't know. I'm using portable QAP v11.5.9, but the problem has happened with the last several versions. Windows info pasted below.
When I restart my hp laptop, QAP does not start with Windows. I have to start it manually. If I go to TaskManager > Startup tab, I'll see that QAP is in the list, but it is "disabled." I'll re-enable it, but it just gets disabled again. I've also tried manually creating an .lnk link in my Startup folder. That doesn't work either.
It's noteworthy that I have 2 SSDs, C: and S:. QAP is located on S:, though Windows is on C:. *However* I also have MouseGestureL.ahk, as well as my own MasterScript.ahk. Those both live on the S: drive, and they start fine.
Any ideas on other things to try, to get QAP to start with windows? My next thing to try is to simply have a 'Run' command in my MasterScript that launches it. I thought I'd check here first any see in anyone has ideas....

When you go into Options, General in Quick Access Popup, is the "Run at Startup" box checked?

Get:
Microsoft Sysinternals Autoruns, https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysint...s/autoruns
It will show every possible place in Windows where "things" are set to run.
If you get abnormal behavior, use Sysinternals Process Explorer and Process Monitor to track it down.

These are tools I've been using way before Mark Russinovich started at Microsoft. (He and Bryce Cogswell started Winternals)
These tools (and the rest) are the best there is, and M.Russinovich knows more about the Windows OS kernel than anyone...

RE Dale: Sorry I forgot to report on that... It is indeed checked. Even after the startup item has been deactivated by Windows(?) it still is checked.
RE Joe: Thanks for the tip. Yeah, I've used the System Internals stuff for years. I also have CClearner running in the background. I was wondering if I had accidentally "blacklisted" that startup item with AutoRuns or CClearner... I don't think I did though. How does a person use ProcExplorer of ProcMon to track this down? I will look in the help files and see if there are any clues. Do you happen to know if I need to have the two apps constantly running in the background for them to "catch" when the QAP startup item gets disabled?
EDIT: Actually... It occurs to me that if I were to just use the 'Installer' version of the app, I probably wouldn't have this problem...

Yeah, both ProcExp and ProcMon must be running to be useful.
I've been using the portable version of QAP for years on a number of machines, never used the installer version.
To track this down, I would start with Process Monitor, have a look at the filtering options, and set one or more filters.
You may also have a look at FolderChangeView by NirSoft.

I just went ahead and installed the normal "installer" version. Seems to work fine now.
