  While customizing the QAP popup window, I need to see the changes visually as I design the layout. The problem is that the QAP popup window closes when you click away from it to return to the customizer. After a few changes, I save, then open the new menu, take a screenshot, open the screenshot, and then continue to design.
  
  It would be great if we could lock the menu so that I could work on the customizer while the menu is open.
  
  Additionally, it would be great if the open menu would refresh after a save - or at least if there was a "refresh" button either in the menu or in the customize window, that would refresh the open menu. In any case, I could live with only a lock.

  There is already such a feature.
  In the Customize menu on the left side the eye symbol says
  Show a menu with favorites in the Customize windows

  Thanks, but I knew that. It's not what I need when I'm spending lots of time designing new menus because that eye only gives you one sneak-peek, which will close when you click away. I need the menu to be constantly open on the side while I design.

  By design, the Windows menus close as soon as you click outside it. This cannot be controlled by QAP.

  Thanks Jean, but I guess I wasn't clear. My request was that the QAP popout window (the "favorites" window - which QAP has control) have the ability to stay open with a "lock" button. I wasn't talking about Windows menus. Maybe related to:

  I think you were clear. This is what I call the "QAP Main menu". The QAP menu is in fact a Windows menu. QAP controls its content (and partly its appearance) but it its does not control its behavior. Once the menu is open, QAP gets the control back only when the user selects an item in the menu.
  
  The "Close this menu" option is for the menu does not close automatically when it should. In this case, this is a Windows bug that sometimes keep the menu open even if you click elsewhere or press Esc. This does not give more control to QAP.

  Ahhhh ok, I thought the main menu was a bunch of GUIs. So how come when I click somewhere on the popout that doesn't close it yet (like a submenu item) the window is not recognized in the AHK "Windows Spy?" If the QAP window had a handle or class, maybe I could code something with that to keep it open when I need to.

  Do not confuse "window" and "menu". A menu is not a window and cannot be handled as a window.
