Recent posts about expanding environment variables in snippet made me realize that a change in the current release (v11.5.3) to expand these variables in favorites "Parameters" field (in addition to those where it was already done) had the unexpected side effect of expanding vars in snippets content.
Environment variables were never expanded in snippets before v11.5.3. This was never requested. On the contrary, the fact that they are now expanded in v11.5.3 was reported as an issue earlier today.
Unless there are other advice on this, I will fix this unexpected behavior in the next release: environment variables will continue to be expanded in favorites locations, parameters, start in fields. But not anymore in snippets content. -

Imo this makes a lot of sense, and I for one support it.
Snippets should be just that, chunks of text that does not get "interpreted" by QAP thus giving unpredictable results.
Let the receiving application handle the output from the snippet, just as it would if you typed it manually.

The bug introduced in v11.5.3 expanding by error environment variables (like %windir%) in snippets content has been fixed in v11.5.3.1.
