  The actual TC 10 beta10 now has an option to disable Dir Menu entries.
  Such entries should not be displayed with the QAP function TC Directory Hotlist.
  
  There is one charecter added in front of hidden entries.
  This character is defined in the MenuHideChar entry in the wincmd.ini.
  In my case MenuHideChar=;
  
  QAP could search for this entry or simply add an entriy for this character under File Manager Options.

  Hello Jean,
  there are many new functions in TC 10
  but none are related to the normal QAP usage.
  Only small problem so far is the hidden Dir Menu entries.

  yes thats the entry.
  Please note that if this character starts with a "-" the function is disabled.
  So for me enabled is
  MenuHideChar=;
  Disabled is
  MenuHideChar=-;

  Isn't disabled by default, in absence of the "hide" character?
  
  In my tests, if "MenuHideChar=-;" the hide character becomes "?" (tested by double clicking an item to hide it).

  The default character was ?
  I changed it to ; in the dialog and enabled the option.
  If I double click an entry it becomes ; as requested

  That happens if I disable the option in the dialog.
  Then TC adds the "-" in front of the MenuHideChar to disable the function.
  This is not shown in the dialog but made on the Wincmd.ini entry.
  If I later enable the option again it removes the "-"

  OK. I understand. So, in summary:
  
  - read MenuHideChar is under [Configuration] in wincmd.ini
  - when parsing the DirMenu, if MenuHideChar does not start with "-", skip entries having a title with MenuHideChar as first character.

  @Horst: I could ask it on the TC forum but maybe you know this. When the AlternateUserIni directive is used in WinCmd.ini, I see that the MenuHideChar in saved in the WinCmd.ini file, not in the alternate ini file. Do you think it is what is intended?

  Here the help entry of it:
  1. Global option in section [Configuration]:
  AlternateUserIni=<somename.ini>
  If present in section [Configuration], it will redirect storing of all user-changeable sections to an alternate ini file (in this example, somename.ini), except for the following sections: [Configuration], [Layout], [Packer], [Confirmation], [Extensions], [Associations], [Shortcuts], [ShortcutsWin], [PackerPlugins], [FileSystemPlugins], [ListerPlugins], [ContentPlugins].

  Yes. I've read this before but forgot about the mention of [Configuration] in the list of exceptions. So, for what matters in QAP, AlternateUserIni file is used only to read the [DirMenu] section. Thanks.
