Hi Jean,
Yes, it's Christmas Day, but I have time to spare
... I don't expect a reply, today, of course!! I wish you a peaceful Christmas, with hope for some relief and a return to normality in 2021.
I noted this issue in v10.5.6 and also now in v11.1. One PC installed with the Setup programme, another uses the Portable zip file. Default file manager is Windows 10 Explorer.
I use the QAP feature “Add Active Folder or Web page Express” to create the favourites. This has been my long-standing mode of operation. However, QAP has started processing this rather slowly, with information boxes flicking up on the screen (they follow my mouse). See attached screenshots.
Any ideas, please?

meant to say, these images (and many others) all flick up on the screen. I'm sure they were not shown previously. You know hard it is to remember what has been normal behaviour! -

These information boxes (called tooltips) are showing you the progress of the actions occurring after you use the "Add Active Folder or Web page Express": saving favorites and rebuilding your menu. The same tooltips are shown when you save your favorites from the "Customize" dialog box.
The time required for this process is growing with the number of favorites in your menu. I could reduce this delay by showing only one tooltip for each 3 major steps (saving, reloading and building the menu) instead of updating it at every submenu, saving that way a fraction of second per submenu. I like letting user know what happens while waiting for the completion of a command but it is true that, in this case, it can take some time for little benefits. Let me see what I can do in v11.2
By the way, this is not related to your questions but I'd mention that there is a bug currently when using the command “Add Active Folder or Web page Express” to add a web page. The title of the web page is not retrieved correctly. This will be fixed in v11.2 to be released in the next weeks.

Sorry for the late reply to your prompt one, I expected an email notification .... must have thought I'd subscribed!
I'm sure this process used to be transparent to me, just a delay while QAP did its thing (as expected), There are 152 items in total (when viewed in Customize), I guess that's a lot. "one tooltip for each 3 major steps (saving, reloading and building the menu)" sounds like a good way forward.
As an example, I used “Add Active Folder or Web page Express” to add a web page. It took just under 7 seconds, as it does for a normal Folder.

Just to feedback .... thanks for implementing this
It's a big improvement, with a timer mouse icon showing with a few "flashes" as it changes to a normal mouse icon. It's clear that something is happening.
However, the Customize screen flashes up at the very end, very fast. It serves no purpose, really, and to be honest, is just a distraction (one might even worry what it was and was it important!)
Do you think it might be better is this was supressed?

Yes, this Customize window flash can be avoided. It will be fixed in the next release. -
