I get this error frequently, and there is a post on the old forum addressing it but the solution proposed doesn't work, The suggested cause doesn't seem to apply. When I exit the program I use the tray to choose exit program, and I do not manually edit my files.
The first time i got the error I had to recreate most of my snippets, then i created a manual backup and a program backup. The manual backup failed.
When I restarted the program in 32bit mode, it all started working again, but it would be nice to never see this error again.
Any suggestions?

Would you send me your ini file at support@quickaccesspopup.com ? There must be something wrong. If it was not edited manually, maybe the file got corrupted because of a save unexpected interruption. Or something happened when importing favorites. I would check it.

Sure, I can do that, but keep in mind that the 32-bit exe *does* work. Its the 64bit version that seems to have a problem.
No improper shutdowns, saving seems to be uneventful (i may not know what your def of "save unexpected interruption" means though) and no favorites importing. -

For example, the PC shutting down or freezing as QAP settings were saved.

The 32-bit and 64-bit share exactly the same code. I'm curious to find out what can explain that. -

Yes, none of the possible scenarios you describe apply.
I have noticed that the UI will freeze too, but the snippet function still works.
I downloaded the portable version and renamed the folder that it was in. would this cause a problem? -

This is, as far as I know, a corruption of the INI-file.
Either you manually tried to change/edit the INI-file and didn't adhere to the format, or some other system, like anti-virus, anti-malware, or file change monitors interrupted the write process. That made QAP go "WTF"!
I have around 200 favourites (not sure, not gonna count them) spread across local INIs, but mostly Shared Menus.
I do have a problem, the time QAP uses to save changes keeps increasing!
I'm kind of waiting for QAP to collapse, but it don't.
This is something screwing with your INI-file.

Did you rename your portable install folder to anything unique? -

I received your ini file. I had no issue loading it with QAP v10.5.6 both 32-bit and 64-bit.
I suggest unzipping the portable file again in a new folder, copy the ini file you sent me in this folder and try again the 32 and 64-bit files. -

No it does not. This folder must be in a regular folder, not a Windows "protected" folder (like "C:\" or "C:\Program Files"). -

Yes, I only use the portable version.
To such a degree that I mailed Jean and said that if the portable version is removed from v.11, I'll drop QAP.
(Pretty drunk sending that message! )
I have QAP portable running in a folder structure far far away from anything standard.
You can PM me if you want, but that is kind of non-productive.
Let's keep the troubleshooting here, for all to see.

Ok I just had the folder on the desktop.
So far what you suggested is working. This time I left the folder name as default just in case.
I'll post again if it stops. -

Norton declared it 'safe'. I can't think of anything else that would mess with it.
It worked initially, long enough for me to type in my main snippets, then the next day starting it, i got the error, but only with the 64-bit version.
Otherwise, its a fantastic program, the best out of 4 or 5 that I've tried. All I needed was that feature to paste from a menu, similar to outlook's signatures function, but I can see how this would be a godsend for writing code and any other repetitious pasting tasks. I used to have to use a text file and manually paste. -

It is basically up to Jean how he wants to go further and fix/discuss this problem.
QAP is a very simple (as in clean) program. There are some "stuff" that could be better, Jean listens to that and pipe it in to devprocess (or not).
But, your initial question was about errors in the INI, and I don't buy it, there are no errors in the QAP INI, hence, something else messes with it.
Snippets and other functions is another topic, I answer or give my input based on the original question.

I often boast (mostly to Jean) that I've been using QAP since it was called "folderssomething".

Thanks, it's working for now, after I re-unzipped the download and put in my .ini file with original folder name. If I get any other errors I'll make sure and post. -
